The science test will NOT be this Friday. Each student should bring his/her study sheet home this weekend. In addition to the study sheet each student will have a login to access some parts of the science curriculum online. The test will be on Monday.
LANGUAGE ARTS
This week we will begin our persuasive writing unit. We will be working on the entire writing process. For reading, the students will continue to read The Giver as a class. MATH We will begin "Chapter 2: Fractions" this week. Each student will be able to convert decimals to fractions; SCIENCE We will be wrapping up our unit on wave characteristics and properties. The vocabulary homework activities are due Tuesday and Friday. The test will be on Friday, October 2. SOCIAL STUDIES This week we will be studying ancient Egypt. Math: The chapter 1 test will be one Wednesday. It covers: Dividing multi digit numbers, Prime factorization, Least common multiples, Greatest Common Factors, Adding and Subtracting Decimals, Multiplying Decimals, Dividing decimals by whole numbers and dividing decimals with decimals. Students should have taken home the practice pages we worked on in class.
Science: This week we will be diving into our study on waves. Students will begin to have science homework starting this week. Reading: fact and opinion. The strategy, "summarize".

This week in Science we will continue our study of what it means to be a scientist and will begin our unit on light and sound. We are happy to say that we have successfully moved into the new classrooms today! Thank you to all of the student helpers!

Please help them review and master these words at home. They did a fantastic job with these! We will start to read The Giver this week and as a class we will cover chapters 1-6. Please make sure your student is reading every night for at least 30 minutes. When they have finished their reading for the day, they need to write a 3 to 5 sentence summary on their Read and Respond log, which then needs to be signed by a parent or guardian to receive credit. Their Read and Respond log is sent home every Monday and should be signed and brought back every day to receive their in-class cash.
